Thanks for the new information.

I am sure someone is going to take this study and devise a surefire, get rich quick weight loss scheme from it

I am like most people in that I wish there was a quick fix. Unfortunately there is not. I am resigned to exercise and diet, which is not really so bad since it makes you feel better in the long run.

We like our tazers here at U.F. ("Don't taze me, Bro!") Along with the publicity, he's probably got fewer fat cells. :-)

Thanks for the real information!

I must say that that was a bit of a tease. I thought some amazing new breakthrough had been discovered. Damn all these extra fat cells.

Thanks for the comment, Dr Dan.

The human skeleton "turns over" about every eight years, via specialized cells: osteoclasts and osteoblasts. Bisphosphonate drugs alter the turnover process towards bone greater bone mass and density, thereby preventing some fractures in people with osteoporosis ("thin bones").

It's not a perfect analogy.

We could think of our bodies having a "fat mass" turnover rate, too, separate from fat cell death and replacement. We can alter that today, without additional research.
